But before diving into Northern California’s top stories, residents should know that a warming trend is expected this week, according to the National Weather Service.

“Despite a cold start to the day, the warming trend will bring temperatures above normal by Thursday,” NWS Bay Area forecasters said Monday. “Once the warm weather arrives, we should see some pretty good weather continue through the middle of this month.”
In other news, a small earthquake occurred off the coast of Northern California Sunday morning. The earthquake was registered at 7:09 a.m. about 76 miles west-northwest of Petrolia, an unincorporated community in Humboldt County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Four people were rescued from a capsized boat in North Bay over the weekend, authorities said.
Police say the body of a man with gunshot wounds was found hidden under dirt and debris near a BART yard, four days after witnesses saw the shooting but did not report it.
Two people were taken to the hospital after two people were stabbed in the Bay Area, police said. The boy’s injuries are not life-threatening, but the adult man’s injuries are life-threatening and are in critical condition.
Two men have been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shootout at a Bay Area market, prosecutors said. The shooting left five people dead. Investigators recovered 45 shell casings and two firearms.
A woman who stole more than $60,000 in merchandise from Bay Area Targets in a series of shoplifting raids has been sentenced, prosecutors announced today.
Additionally, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California travel spending will hit a record high of $150.4 billion in 2023, surpassing the previous record of $144.9 billion in 2019.
