XDefiant bot lobby grows rampant as Season 1 continues downward trend

XDefiant Season 1 has a ton of issues, but bot lobbies are a big one this time around. Bots aren’t exactly new to the FPS genre, but since they’re often used primarily to fill lobbies that don’t have any players, they become problematic when your entire team is made up of bots, not only because it affects the enjoyment of the game, but also because it ruins the experience for anyone wanting to test their skills against real people.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what’s happening in Ubisoft’s shooter, with some players on Reddit sharing images of enemy teams made up of these mindless machines. According to a post by Reddit user Remarkable_Pea9313, these bot lobbies are being used to rapidly level up players (the bot’s name is ZeusBoostBot). User Zupiii posted a similar image of the same set of bots making up the enemy team they faced.

Several other players shared similar experiences, and surprisingly, one Reddit user admitted to being the culprit in a post. User Ambitious_Composer49 said that they were leveling up bot accounts as ads and “making money from people in bot lobbies.” Later, in another thread, they revealed that they were “the hosts that put all the Zeus boost bots in.” [matches]” The post, titled “What are you waiting for?”, predictably didn’t go down well with a few frustrated players.

Luckily, now that players have admitted to being the source of these bots, it may become easier for the development team to remove them from the game. However, with bot lobbies running rampant, XDefiant Season 1 faces an uphill battle to regain the community’s good graces, especially with issues with spider bots, hit registration, and ranked mode continuing to plague the game.
