Keeley talks to the camera in her car

Australian workers are furious that employers are not telling job seekers whether they’ve got the job, and ghosting can happen at different stages of the process.

Some people never hear back after submitting their application, while others wait for a response after multiple interviews and tests.

Queensland’s Keeley Pejovic was furious when all she could hear after her interview was the sound of crickets chirping, but recruitment expert Graham Wynne said: Yahoo Finance There’s a good reason this happens.

“we was “When we told people we weren’t successful, we received derogatory email responses and phone calls,” he said.

He added that having multiple conversations with each person about why they weren’t selected would be very time-consuming, especially when there are dozens of applicants.

“Many companies now state in their job adverts that if we don’t hear from you within 14 days you have not been selected,” Wynn added.

There is a lack of kindness in this process

Pejovic believes employers need to show more “kindness” to job seekers who are desperately waiting for a job offer.

“You’ve obviously found someone better suited for the job, and that’s fine,” she said. “But could you at least let me know? Could you let me know in advance? That way I don’t have to think about it for weeks.”

“It’s not hard for someone to send me a quick email or text message saying they didn’t get the job.

“I took the time to come to your interview. If you could at least take a moment to send me a quick email, I can move on and look for other work. I think that’s basic common sense and kindness.”

She is not the only one to make this “basic” request, as others have shared similar experiences.

“I applied in April and have yet to receive a rejection email even though the job is still advertised,” one person wrote.

“This happened three times in a row,” said another.

A third added: “I had my interview starting in April and then a month later I got a follow up email saying they would let me know within a week if I’d progressed to a second interview, but I haven’t heard anything since.”

Your application may be invalid on arrival

If you’re frustrated after submitting a job application and not getting any feedback, you can blame it on new technology.

Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) help employers and recruiters weed out applications that don’t specifically match the needs of a particular job.

The technology scans applications within seconds and, if they don’t contain keywords linked to the job description or requirements, they’re tossed in the trash.

“So that’s why you’re not getting a response because no one is looking at your resume,” Wynn explained. Yahoo Finance.

If you have enough keywords, your resume will be sent to the next round to see if you are suitable for an interview or first round testing.
