The YSRCP, led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is likely to support NDA candidate Om Birla in Wednesday’s Lok Sabha Speaker elections if support is needed.
The party has four members in the House of Representatives.
However, the party’s Rajampet MP PV Midhun Reddy said the YSRCP is yet to announce its decision and it would be revealed on Wednesday.
“We will formally announce our decision tomorrow but it is natural that we will support the NDA candidate,” a YSRCP source told PTI.
Further, sources pointed out that the YSRCP legislators are not in touch with the INDI alliance, which is also contesting the Speaker elections.
Another YSRCP leader said the party has never opposed any NDA decision before and the same trend would continue this time too.
In the recent simultaneous Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, the YSRCP faced off against the NDA, which comprises the TDP, BJP and Janasena. The party suffered a humiliating defeat but managed to win four Lok Sabha seats and 11 state assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh.
