This trend has a connection to anime. This reportedly first appeared on his platform named 4Chan in May 2021. This platform was for people to share, post, and comment on images anonymously. This meme was related to a character from the Japanese anime series K-On. Its caption read, “Look between the T and O in your key, I’m bored (intentionally misspelled).”
The letters Y, U, and I appeared as the spelling for the series’ character “Yui.” This popular anime series focuses on girls who form a band through their high school’s light music club.
Then, one of the people at X (formerly Twitter) shared a familiar post related to K-ON! “My Hero Academia” will be released in April 2024.
