MARIETTA — Marietta College bounced back from a 12-4 Ohio Athletic Conference loss to Heidelberg College in Game 1 of Saturday’s Community Day and split a doubleheader following a 9-0 fifth-inning called-rule win. did.
The Pioneers (15-18, 6-9), led by head coach Jen Castle, will finish the regular season in another twinbill starting at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 5, when Capital University invades, but Amelia -Three hits from Timko. As he improved to 4-3, Timko did not walk any batters and had one strikeout.

The Pioneers were able to win on the mercy rule thanks to a four-run fifth inning. Kazmirski hit a sacrifice fly and Jess Brown drove in three runs, going 4-for-4 to bring the game back to the split.
Breanna Zirkle (5-6) was chased in the second inning of the first game as Student Princes scored one run in the first inning and added six more. Jillian Middleton played 2-3 innings of relief in the 5th inning. He allowed six runs, but only four earned runs.
Gabby Stallbaum scored and Mulissa Draughn’s scoring double gave the visiting team a 1-0 cushion early in the first game.
In the second, Student Princess scored on Aubrey Conklin’s two-run double, Stallbaum’s RBI and Ellie Tressler’s free pass RBI, as well as Caitlin Newlen’s single and Jade Torres’ sacrifice fly.
Coach Castle’s team managed to avoid a Mercy Rule setback after trailing 10-0 entering the bottom of the fourth inning.

HU was able to extend its lead in the third inning when Morgan Wojcicki singled, doubled and Stallbaum came home with a two-run homer that narrowly sailed over the right-center field fence.
In the fourth, Tressler hit an unmistakable ball just to the left of the center field scoreboard.
Middleton, who replaced Jordan Chory, started the game with a single from the fourth. Cholly scored on Airy’s two-bagger to left-center field, and Zirkle’s RBI single made it 10-2.
The hosts cut the lead to 10-4 after playing a pair in the fifth set. Kazmirski’s single was followed by Brown’s two-run, two-run double that scored pinch runner Jillian Strekanski.
Jessica Wojtko (4-12) pitched 4 2-3 innings to give Heidelberg the win on the mound, hitting a 2-run homer off Draughn in the 7th inning and forcing Kylie Kroll to pitch a pair of final 1-3 frames. Ta.
