Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haq will play their first four-day match for Bangladesh A in Pakistan next month. The second team will play two four-day matches in addition to three one-day matches against Pakistan A. The matches will coincide with the Bangladesh senior men’s Test tour of Pakistan, which begins on August 21.

The entire series will be played in Islamabad, with the first four-day match starting from August 10. Besides Mushfiqur and Mominul, the selectors have also picked Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Zakir Hasan, Naeem Hasan and Hasan Mahmood for the first match. Mushfiqur missed Bangladesh’s last Test series against Sri Lanka with a fractured thumb, but Mominul, Joy, Zakir and Mahmood played in that series. Naeem is also a Test specialist.

Shahadat Hossain, Mahidul Islam and Mosaddeq Hossain are the three batsmen selected for both the four-day matches but are unlikely to play in the Test match against Pakistan, while left-arm spinners Hasan Murad and Tanvir Islam, fast bowlers Tanzim Hasan Saqib, Rejaur Rahman Raja and Ruiel Mia will play in both matches.

This will be the first time Bangladesh A will play a first-class match since the 2003-04 season, when they participated in the PCB Patrons’ Trophy. Bangladesh A will leave for Islamabad on August 6.
