Dear Readers, Candidate filing for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections ended yesterday and as things stand, the BJP will contest 148 of the 288 seats in the Western state, which will go to polls on November 20th. There are some dissatisfaction among the Maha Yuti factions. The BJP members are reportedly criticizing the NCP for supporting Nawab Malik, who had initially filed nomination as an independent candidate from Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar but later said he would fight on an NCP ticket. . Malik’s alleged relationship with Dawood Ibrahim does not go well with the saffron party, but Malik’s contest from the seat is also good for its Indian partner, the Samajwadi Party, whose member has held the seat since 2009. 634 candidates submit nominations for second phase of Jharkhand assembly polls

The nomination exercise for the second phase of Jharkhand assembly polls concluded on Tuesday with a total of 634 candidates submitting their papers, election officials said.

On Tuesday, as many as 297 candidates filed their papers for the election in 38 seats, which will be voted on in the second phase on November 20. Scrutiny of the documents is expected to take place on Wednesday, but candidates have until November to withdraw their nominations. 1. (PTI)
