A study suggests that giant, kraken-like octopuses may have ruled the oceans around 100 million years ago. These massive creatures, estimated to be as large as 60 or 62 feet, are believed to have been apex predators, possibly preying on giant reptiles. The existence of such massive octopuses is supported by fossilized remains, including powerful, bone-crushing jaws.
