Research on group A Streptococcus has led to findings on potential vaccine targets and immune responses. A molecular chaperone called PrsA is reported to stimulate protective immunity against the bacteria. Studies also suggest that vaccine-induced immunity may offer protection against invasive disease, although the nature and extent of this protection are still being explored.
