Canonical has released Ubuntu Core 26, which will receive 15 years of security maintenance. This version of Ubuntu Core features live kernel patching and optimized updates, and is also referred to as Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, which includes GNOME 50 and Linux 7.0. The release also involves dropping Xorg in favor of Wayland, while still supporting X11 applications.
