Carbon credits have helped protect tropical forests, despite being oversold. However, the effectiveness of companies' environmental pledges, such as "deforestation-free" supply chains, in reducing forest clearance is uncertain. Other approaches, including mangrove conservation and protecting the Congo Basin, are also being explored as part of broader climate action efforts.
