A study has found that antibiotics are not as effective as appendectomy for treating uncomplicated appendicitis in children. The research, which included an international, multicentre, randomised trial, compared treatment outcomes for children with acute uncomplicated appendicitis. The findings suggest that surgery may be a more effective treatment option than antibiotic therapy for this condition in children.
