West Nile virus-carrying mosquitoes have been detected in several areas, including McKinney, Worcester, Allegheny County, La Mesa, New York City, Santa Clara County, and Dallas neighborhoods. As a result, targeted spraying is planned in some of these locations to help prevent the spread of the virus. The presence of West Nile virus has been confirmed in mosquito samples, but reports on human cases are inconsistent, with at least one human case reported in Allegheny County, while other areas, such as Boston, have reported no confirmed human cases.
