A business owner from Avon has undergone a double-lung transplant after receiving a life-threatening diagnosis. The procedure has also been reported to have been successfully performed on other individuals, including a NASA engineer and a NYPD 9/11 hero, with some cases resulting in cancer-free outcomes. The effectiveness of lung transplants for patients with terminal lung cancer is also being studied, with one study finding it dramatically improves survival rates.
