The use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) in patients with type 2 diabetes may be associated with an increased risk of ocular adverse events. However, the nature and extent of this risk are not entirely clear, with some studies suggesting a link to conditions such as retinal detachment and ischemic optic neuropathy, while others have found no increased risk of certain eye disorders. The relationship between GLP-1 RA use and ocular adverse events remains a subject of ongoing review and analysis.
