A man in china was kept alive for several months after receiving a transplant with a genetically modified pig liver, until he could receive a human organ transplant. The transplant, reportedly a first of its kind, was performed by chinese surgeons. The duration of the man's survival after the pig liver transplant has been reported as more than 170 days, with some outlets specifying 171 days.
