A systematic analysis has been conducted on global, regional, and national sepsis incidence and mortality from 1990 to 2021. The study's findings have prompted calls for a national response to address the increasing sepsis burden and persistent inequities. Additionally, various advancements and potential breakthroughs in sepsis diagnosis and treatment are being explored, including next-generation sequencing approaches and finger-prick detection methods.
