Research on the denning habits of free-ranging dogs has found that they tend to prefer areas near humans. A study, possibly related to a broader examination of den site selection that includes striped hyaena in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in India, has shed light on this behavior. The findings suggest that free-ranging dogs exhibit a preference for denning in close proximity to human populations.
