Research on cattle genomes has revealed distinct adaptation and ancestral retention signals in african and european indigenous cattle. Genome-wide analysis has also shown differential admixture dynamics and historical demographic contractions in african cattle, as well as unique genetic diversity in other regions. The studies suggest complex evolutionary histories and genetic diversity in various cattle populations worldwide.
