Ebola cases in the Congo have surpassed 1,000, with the virus infecting frontline health workers. The outbreak has resulted in a significant number of deaths, with reports suggesting over 250 fatalities, and possibly more than 400. The World Health Organization has noted that the number of cases in the first month of the outbreak is the highest of any recorded outbreak, and while cases have been reported outside of Africa, the global risk is considered to be low.
