Research suggests that water resource management plays a role in maintaining ecosystem multistability in drylands. The use of geographic information systems and models, such as the WRASTIC model, may be useful in evaluating ecosystem quality. Additionally, a new concept called Multiple Resource Use Efficiency (mRUE) has been proposed to understand ecosystem production.
