A europe-china spacecraft has launched to study earth's magnetic field and its interaction with the solar wind. The spacecraft, called smile, aims to capture the first x-ray views of earth's magnetic shield, which is often referred to as the planet's "invisible armour". The mission seeks to provide new insights into earth's magnetosphere and space weather.
