An evaluation of antimicrobial resistance governance across 193 countries is underway to inform an update to the 2026 Global Action Plan. Research on antimicrobial resistance is being conducted from a "one health" perspective, which considers the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, with studies focusing on various aspects such as national performance indicators and the impact of substandard antibiotics. The lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic are also being considered to enhance antimicrobial resistance surveillance and stewardship.
