Research on mismatch repair deficient gastro-oesophageal cancer has found extreme intratumour heterogeneity and driver evolution. The implications of this heterogeneity for cancer treatment are being explored, with studies examining the tumor microenvironment and the spatial structure of tumors. The relationship between tumor characteristics and sensitivity to immunotherapy is also being investigated.
