Research is being conducted on sedimentary residues in a Martian chaotic terrain, which may be related to ancient aquifer outbursts. Some findings suggest that this area could have once been home to a mud lake or hydrothermal seafloor deposits, potentially holding traces of life. The formation and drainage of Martian aquifers and outflow channels are also being studied, with possible connections to sedimentary volcanism and dust fallout deposits.
