An FDA advisory committee has endorsed the safety of a treatment, possibly a gene therapy, for sickle cell disease. The treatment in question may be called Exa-Cel or Casgevy. However, there is some uncertainty as one report mentions the treatment is for a form of childhood blindness, while others clearly state it is for sickle cell disease, and one outlet's report is unrelated to the topic.
