A new generic version of Esbriet, used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), has been approved by the FDA from manufacturer Lupin. This development is expected to improve access to treatment for patients with IPF. The availability of a generic version may provide an alternative option for patients, although the relationship between this approval and other treatments, such as Ofev, is still being studied.
