A structural stability assessment is being conducted on the ancient Serapeum tunnels beneath Pompey's Pillar using finite element analysis (FEA) and soil-structure interaction (SSI) modelling. Similar techniques are also being applied to other historical sites, including Tutankhamen's Tomb, where rock bolts are being used for stabilization. The use of finite element assessment and various stabilization methods, such as polymer anti-seismic piling, is being explored to protect underground cultural heritage sites.
