Researchers are exploring the use of fast pyrolysis of biomass as an alternative to crude oil, with studies focusing on the production of bio-oil and other fuels. Experiments and theoretical work are being conducted to understand and improve the pyrolysis process, including the breakdown of cellulose and the control of chemical reactions. The goal of this research appears to be the development of more efficient and scalable methods for producing low-carbon fuels, including jet fuel, from biomass and waste materials.
