A human case of West Nile virus has been confirmed in Hamilton County. However, it is unclear if this is the first case in the state or region, as other areas, including Mississippi, Nebraska, Utah, and California, are also reporting their first human cases of the virus this year. The virus has also been detected in mosquitoes in some of these areas.
