Research suggests that flavonoids may interfere with biofilm formation in multidrug resistant Vibrio cholerae by targeting diguanylate cyclases. This finding may contribute to the development of small molecule anti-biofilm agents and next generation antimicrobials. The study of flavonoids, including those extracted from certain plant leaves, is ongoing to understand their potential antimicrobial activities.
