A large-scale dataset and foundation models for flood modeling and forecasting, known as FloodCastBench, have been developed. The dataset and models are being used to improve predictions of flood events, including peak inundation depths. Research on the topic has been published, focusing on the foundations of earth foundation models and the application of physics-informed machine learning.
