Research is being conducted on the use of Hiporfin-photodynamic therapy to treat high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions of the endocervical canal in young women. The therapy may be associated with negative conversion of human papillomavirus (HPV) in some cases. Its effectiveness is being compared to other treatments, such as loop electrosurgical excision procedure, for similar conditions.
