A galaxy's interaction with the Milky Way has been observed by the Hubble space telescope, which has captured the aftermath of the event. The galaxy in question may be the Large Magellanic Cloud, which is reported to have collided with the Milky Way, although it is also suggested that the Large Magellanic Cloud is instead affecting a smaller neighboring galaxy. The James Webb telescope has also been used to study the galaxy, revealing details that Hubble did not capture.
