Researchers have developed integrated optomechanical ultrasonic sensors that can detect extremely low pressures. These sensors utilize optical microcavities and may also be designed as stretchable piezoresistive acoustic pressure sensors. The technology enables precision ultrasound sensing on a chip, with sensitivity at the nano-Pascal level.
