Researchers are working to integrate social vulnerability into high-resolution global flood risk mapping. Studies are examining various factors, including spatial heterogeneity, health risks, and land use dynamics, to better understand flood risk in different regions, including chinese floodplains, us coastal cities, and cities in sweden and south africa. The goal appears to be the development of more comprehensive models, such as the globE-sovi map, to assess and mitigate flood risk at a global scale.
