Research has identified commensal gut microbiota signatures as potential predictors of clinical severity and disease progression in multiple sclerosis. However, reports also mention the gut microbiome's role in various other conditions, including colorectal anastomotic leakage, inflammatory bowel diseases, ovarian cancer, and hepatocellular carcinoma. The relationship between the gut microbiome and disease is being explored in multiple contexts, with some studies focusing on its implications for immunotherapy and precision medicine.
