A brain parasite, reportedly carried by one in three people, is said to have a mechanism by which the body can control it. The parasite, possibly linked to cats, is believed to infect immune cells, but its effects and the body's response are not entirely clear. Research suggests the parasite may be more active than previously thought, although its relationship to mental illness and other health issues is still being explored.
