An Orkney island has become the first in the UK to receive broadband via water pipes. However, internet connectivity in the Orkney and Shetland Islands has been disrupted due to damage to a subsea cable, with repairs requiring a specialist ship and the disruption in Shetland expected to last over a week. The region is also seeing efforts to improve broadband infrastructure, with a significant rollout planned.
