Oropouche fever, also known as "sloth fever", is a disease that is spreading and raising concern. The virus may pose a risk to pregnant individuals, with possible links to microcephaly due to vertical transmission, and its symptoms and transmission methods are being studied. Public health surveillance is being recommended, particularly in areas such as southern Brazil and other parts of Latin America and South America, where the disease appears to be emerging.
