Research is being conducted on the molecular mechanisms of chronic pain, exploring various aspects such as microglia phenotypes, postfracture pain, and the connection between sarcopenia and pain. Studies are also investigating potential therapeutic interventions, including gene therapy, epigenetic modulation, osteopathic manipulative therapy, and noninvasive neuromodulation. The goal of these efforts appears to be the development of effective treatments for chronic pain, possibly reducing reliance on opioids.
