Snow and ice are causing disruption in the UK, with around 100 schools closed in northern areas, including parts of Scotland and the North East. The closures are due to heavy snowfall, which is also affecting travel. Reports indicate that temperatures have dropped as low as -6C in some areas, with weather warnings in place for much of Scotland.
