A unique island nation, home to animals found nowhere else on earth, is experiencing a loss of its distinct wildlife. However, it is unclear which island nation is being referred to, as reports variously mention locations such as Madagascar, the "Galapagos of North America", a US island, and the Caribbean, as well as a specific location, Santa Rosa Island, which is part of the Channel Islands. Wildfires are reported to be a threat to the wildlife in at least one of these locations.
