A magnitude 4.3 earthquake was recorded on Hawaiʻi Island. However, some reports indicate a stronger earthquake, possibly with a magnitude of 6.2, occurred in the area, with varying locations given as under Pāhala or off the coast of the island. The earthquake or earthquakes reportedly did not pose a tsunami risk.
