Research on mitochondria and viral infection is yielding new insights, with studies exploring the evolutionary relationships between human mitochondria and their role in viral infections. Some findings suggest that mitochondria have distinct functions that reflect their symbiotic evolution, while others highlight the complex interactions between mitochondrial components and viral proteins. The role of certain molecular chaperones in viral replication and secretion is also being investigated.
