Nato has selected Saab's GlobalEye as its new airborne warning and control system. The GlobalEye will reportedly replace the existing awacs fleet, with the number of aircraft to be acquired possibly reaching up to 10. Some reports suggest that multiple nato countries are involved in the selection, while others indicate that Saab's GlobalEye was chosen over a competing bid from Boeing.
