A nobel prize in physics has been awarded to a group of scientists for their work on exotic states of matter and topology. The recipients include michael kosterlitz, a professor at brown university, as well as two other physicists. The award recognizes research that has led to a greater understanding of strange magnetic phenomena and the prediction of unusual materials.
