New dates have been obtained for Homo erectus fossils found in East Asia, suggesting that this ancient human ancestor may have reached the region earlier than previously thought. The discovery of ancient teeth and skulls has also hinted at possible links between Homo erectus and Denisovans. The findings appear to be reshaping the understanding of human origins, with some fossils estimated to be around 1.5 to 1.8 million years old.
