A recently discovered tiny arm bone fossil is providing insight into the evolution of the ancient human species known as Homo floresiensis, also referred to as the "hobbits". The fossil, which is the smallest arm bone in the human fossil record, was found on Indonesia's Flores island. The discovery sheds light on the species, but the circumstances of their disappearance, reported as possibly occurring between 50,000 to 61,000 years ago, remain a subject of study.
